Something I realised…

I’ve been coaching many people over the last few years of my life, and I’ve discovered something really amazing. It just hit me tonight, and I think most of you might not realize this until much later, even if you are reading this now.

You see, I was brought up in an environment that helped me hone my learning skills. I’m an NLP Trainer, and do a lot of things associated with mind-body training. As such, I’m also a pretty good modeler. Give me one person who is operating at an expert level, and I’ll be able to distill their thinking process and turn them into my own, and produce similar results with some time.

That’s why I mastered internet marketing within a few months of starting.

That’s what I do when I’m speaking on stage.

But what got me frustrated many times during my coaching sessions is that a large number of people are unable to model. One crucial skill is the skill of learning fast, including rapid reading and research.

I read books on the fly, and generate huge numbers of ideas from reading. That’s my competitive edge. I read probably 10-20 times more books than the average person. But then again, most people don’t have the skill to do that.

I’m simply saying that if you thought you weren’t talented, you’re wrong. You were born a genius, and over the years, you have been “stupidized”. You got to get the spark back. There is no such thing as a “talent” for learning, simply a strategy.

#1 – Learn accelerated learning.

Learning how to learn will set your mind free. Pick up memory skills, mind mapping and the like. If possible, even rapid reading strategies. I read a book in around 45 minutes and create a fair level of expertise in a subject within 4-5 hours. That’s how fast you are capable of reading.

#2 – Learn NLP and Modeling skills

If you don’t have these skills, it will be difficult for you to learn 100% from your mentors and coaches. Developing these skills will give you the edge when taking up coaching programs and the like. If you are keen on developing the learning skills that are applicable across all levels, then this is where you need to begin.

Hope this helps you find some direction.
