Power Copywriting Tips
Any of you who have followed my progress since I began would know that copywriting is my ’secret weapon’.
It’s true that I’d rather not reveal too much about the way I do copywriting, but you know, the most frustrating thing that I can see is people who are writing but can’t get their message across persuasively.
Copywriting is a survival skill. After all, if you can persuade someone, you can make that person buy. It’s about the way you use words. How you tweak the words to affect emotions. It’s a deliberate thing but if you learn it at first, it may seem to methodical. In reality, if you really believe in something a lot, you will already be convincing people about the benefits, and that is what sells – personability and benefits.
I learnt a lot from Yanik Silver, but I also learnt a lot from various other people. Dan Kennedy, if you may not have heard, is one of the most grumpy marketers in the world. Bill Glazer, who is a business partner with Dan, also is a pretty cool copywriter. Ted Nicholas, as far as I can see, has been one of the most instrumental people in the development of direct response copywriting.
These fathers of copywriting have one thing in common – they know the ins and outs of an individual’s desire to buy. And they have collectively sold probably in excess of US$20 Billion worth of product.
Want to learn this powerful skill?
One of the biggest focal points for me was to learn how to develop copywriting ability. I was pretty bad at it until I learnt that it was pretty much how I persudae people in speech. This led me to consider the various ways to maximize my ability to speak so that I could enhance my sales letters. I use it offline as well, and I think it’s a really great way to earn an income.
I cover quite a number of copywriting tactics in my book the Secrets Of Internet Millionaires, which is available from leading bookstores now. If you haven’t got a copy, grab one immediately! If we are lucky, we might actually run a Copywriting Mastermind session.
If you are interested at all in doing something like this and earning from it, you might want to plough through some of the best copywriters in the world:

Hello Stuart,
May I add in the following legends as well?
They may not be that well-known among the younger internet crowd
though….
1) John Caples
2) David Ogilvy
People can google them for more info.
I recently gotten Caples’s classic Tested Advertising Methods
from Amazon. For those yet to know him, he’s the guy who
coined, “They Laughed When I Sat At The Piano, …..” fame.
Many people thought the headline was brilliant, the story copy
dazzles even more! It’s a sheer 3 min reading pleasure!
And oh yeah, Dan’s the man! I like his style.
Grumpy as he may be, this guy’s really no sugar-coating
the way he speaks and writes. An absolute master in what he
does.

All agreed. John Caples was the man I turned to when I started my internet marketing business. His headline helped me convert people into subscribers!
Actually there is another host of copywriters. It’s been discussed on the Forums. Where have you been? I think it’s time to catch up!

Hi Stuart, I have just recently going into this topic and there are so many great names out there on power copy writing; some are quoted here. You are right that good copy-writing should be like what a good salesman talks to his prospects, but he needs to know how to “psycho” also! That has to be learned. any thoughts on Robert Imbraile’s book?

Hi there,
I haven’t really kept myself updated with the forum so I ‘m not sure if this legendary name was mentioned… Mr. Gary Halbert.
His legacy of Halbert’s letters online are pure marketing gems available for free for people keen in copywriting and marketing.
Many people said he wrote one of the most successful sales letters in the history, which had been mailed to one third of the American population.
Cheers,
Sean

By the way, Mr. Gary Halbert had passed away recently..

Yeap…you sure did a great job in your venture and have done a lot for the local community. I am sure the people appreciate for what you did.
Catching up? My pleasure, let me know when you have some time to spare and I will buy you kopi.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the comments.
Jet – give me a PM on the forums and I’ll give you a call.
Sean, Gary’s passing was noted on the Forums.
Scaramouche, enlighten us on Imbralie’s book? Never heard of him, but Robert Cialdini, yes. Fantastic insight into psychology, really.

Gary was an asset to the copywriting world, but his work still continues at his website; driven by his sons now I believe. I’d also recommend the works of Claude Hopkins (Scientific Advertising); definitely worth reading in conjunction with David Ogilvy.
