How To Make An Affiliate Recommendation

Affiliate recommendations exist in the world whether we recognize them as ‘affiliate’ recommendations or not. They are simply recommendations. If I went to a hotel and told a friend about it because of its good service, you’d be inclined to go. However, I don’t get rewarded for that unless I have some prior arrangement with the hotel.

If I do, it may seem somehow mercenary to ‘make money off my friend’. I think this is a problem with many people who face issues with any kind of sales role. We feel it is not our ‘right’ to make money. This has to be corrected because I know that everyone deserves to earn his or her keep. When you become an affiliate, you are actually:

    Seeking out valuable information and content;
    Evaluating this information and content;
    Making this information available to other people;
    Making a commission off the sales that occur because people trust you enough to make that sale.

Making these types of recommendations can become full time work! It’s not always easy to review things and send valuable information about these products as a reliable source of information. When this happens, it is a choice made by the person you have sent this information to, whether or not to use this product and make it work.

As an affiliate, you can incentivize people to take up your offers too! Here are some possible approaches:

1. Offer a bonus product or service for taking up the affiliate recommendation on your end.
As an affiliate myself, I do this because I want to add value to my promotion, and increase the chances of my prospects taking up the offer because of me rather than because of the product itself. My list members will also feel assured that I’m giving a valuable part of me and my time in order to generate my sales, rather than just sit there and do nothing. This is a common strategy, and requires you to build up your product and service range so you can provide these as bonus give-aways.

2. Provide personalized access.
Most people I know who create products or services are either too far away to access, or don’t have a good customer service plan. As an affiliate, it would do you some good (if you believe the product is good) to offer some training on how to use the product. This can further enhance your credibility as an affiliate as well.

3. Provide membership.
This is a very strong bonus. If you have not already done so, you can check out Ryan Chua’s ForumSecretsRevealed.com. That’s where you will learn how to manage a forum and run it professionally.
