Danger: Are You New To Internet Marketing?

There are many pitfalls in internet marketing and there are great rewards. But as in any endeavor, you need to find out as much information as possible. The biggest problem that is surfacing in internet marketing so far is ‘hype’.

But don’t let that prevent you from realizing that it is possible to make a decent income from the internet. Thousands of people are doing this and many of them are doing it underground. I myself have made a modest amount within two weeks of starting my internet marketing career. But I had to put myself through over 40 eBooks and $30,000 worth of home study courses and the like.

Is it scary? You bet! It could be technical and you may have no idea what this whole thing is about unless you begin to read and learn. I know I spent a long time figuring out stuff and remained confused for the most part.

So, to cut your pain short, I’ll give you my knowledge for free! Why? Because I have an aim of reaching out to 5,000 new people who have no idea what internet marketing is, and turn them into profitable internet marketers. A great place to start learning this is at the website I set up at www.internetmarketingsingapore.com. There is a repository of internet marketing articles there which I have gingerly collected and categorized. It is a great place for beginners.

Let me begin by saying that Affiliate Marketing is probably the best place and resource for any kind of beginner to launch into internet marketing. Affiliate marketing is basically a way to act as a middle man online for merchants or vendors (sellers) and buyers. As an affiliate (also known as associates or publishers), you will earn commissions that go into your bank account through the Affiliate Network you choose to work with. An affiliate network is the place that aggregates many, many merchants and many, many affiliates. That way, the affiliates will be drawn to sell for the merchants, and the merchants will be inclined to sell through those affiliates.

Most importantly, I believe you need to learn to experiment with a few places. The first place is www.clickbank.com. You need to sign up for an account here. The next place is www.google.com/adwords. You need to learn about Adwords and how to launch your affiliate marketing program.

I’ve included a downloadable audio and video clip resources which you can use free of charge at www.internetmarketingsingapore.com/articles/.htm. This will get you started.

However, you also need to know a bit more about Adwords and how to use it effectively. I’ve done a little bit of research to know that Perry Marshall is probably the best source of expertise in Google Adwords. You’ll want to spend a little bit of time and effort learning how to cut down your advertising budget to between $30-50 a month without breaking a sweat. Another person who is great with Adwords is Chris Carpenter. He is the guy who is responsible for the Google Cash system.

These resources are probably the best place to start (and the cheapest too). When you begin, remember to keep the following in check:

1. Set a target market. You have to know what your market wants to avoid getting high paying keywords. Think about what your market needs and then reach out to them in alternative ways.
2. Plan your budget. Don’t keep ‘betting’ because that’s not what this is about. You have to keep track of your expenses so that you know exactly how much you earned.
3. Keep Learning. If you have the spirit of learning, you will find that you will outstrip all the other internet marketers who are sometimes, just darned lazy.
4. Treat this as a business. If you know how to run a business, don’t let up! This is just like a business, and you have to treat it like one. Making it profitable means you have to have tight controls and effective ideas that can turn into profit making.
5. Your ideas are your best friend! If you aren’t creative, you will need to stop and ask yourself if that’s just an excuse. In fact, knowing about psychology, the fact that you think that way might actually cause the lack of creativity. Loosen up – surf the web. Read people’s ideas and look out for new information on how to maximize your productivity online.

Stick to these basic rules and remember – internet marketing is not a get-rich quick scheme. It’s a business endeavor. You have to love it, you have to love meeting people, and you have most certainly got to enjoy learning. I do, and this is why I want to give this back to you.
