Today’s idea is about seeking out incoming links for the purposes of SEO. I think many people who are doing affiliate marketing will miss this out solely because the SEO approach doesn’t always appeal to them, and therefore are happier doing PPC advertising.

While I don’t deny that SEO is tedious and often boring, it doesn’t always have to be that way. There are examples of how SEO can be easy, and link building leveraged.

One way is to hire someone full time to do your SEO. This will include link building, article submissions, link exchange programs and the like.

The other way is to get yourself a web-based software program created or a theme created that you distribute for free with your anchor text (the words that you want to rank highly for) in the the program or theme. If this is useful, many people will actually be interested in it, and use it for their own benefit.

The daily routine here is actually in the first method. You need to find good directories to do submissions, and I talk about how it’s less effective now in SEO in my audio training located here. Still, just because it’s less effective doesn’t mean you can’t still use it. I know I do, but because it’s so tedious, I often find it a chore to actually do it myself.

I would like to suggest that SEO is a daily routine and if you want to do it, you need to take some time to optimize your site consistently. Traffic can then stabilize over a longer period of time.

Well, it’s not that difficult to get proper press coverage, especially for the internet.

First, let’s understand how it works. Online, there are portals known as newswires. They have contact with many newspapers, magazines and other websites that will publish their press releases. Occasionally, if a journalist runs out of things to say, he or she will likely look for press releases to see if there is anything that can fit the current news. This is where your story might be picked up and publicized.

Second, many people think of Press Releases as free search engine optimization. Unfortunately, that’s not really the case. Many people take this notion too far, and start using press releases to spam PR sites online. That’s probably the worst thing you can do. You really have to angle your press releases properly and help the writers get some kind of angle to give them a reasonable ‘what’s in it for my readers’. The truth is that there are many people who are spamming PR sites, and if this trend continues without proper ethics, there will be no more free sites. They will slap a fee on it and even then, people will continue to spam them. That’s not what I think is a good strategy.

To do a good press release online, all you need to do is to think of a good, neutral headline that might attract attention. Something like “Millionaire donates 50% of proceeds to charity” do attract attention. However something like “How to make a milion dollars without having to break a sweat” is just not acceptable. It’s in ‘copywriting slang’ and will never attract enough attention from any decent editor. They are likely to throw it out without a seconds’ notice.

You will obviously require a proper summary, where you put in a crisp and succinct overview of your article. For instance, following from the previous example:

“Millionaire Singaporean donates $400,000 to Cancer Children’s Society to build new facility for rehabilitation. Aid assists HCS with cost reduction, could lead to 15% reduction in premature deaths.”

That would be captivating. Tell the journalist or editor “this is the what.. read on for the why and the how”.

Then in your body, repeat what you have said in prose, with more details. It is preferable to interview staff or owners. This will add a human dimension to your press release. If you have time, add comments from people who may have a different opinion to balance out the release.

You can probably submit all your press releases manually, but if you are looking for a fast way to proliferate the web, you can actually use this very powerful software to automate over 80% of all the labor required for submitting press releases across over 15 different press release sites.

You see, with a backlink from a PR0 site, you merely get a fraction of attention from the search engines. BUT with a backlink from a PR8 site, you get lots of search engine attention.

In my post on SEO Tools, I discussed five main areas that you can use to enhance your SEO research . Today, I’ll cover basic strategies you can use to build effective backlinks. A backlink is when a site refers or recommends you through linking to your website. I’ve found that almost any important webpage based on pagerank that has your link will end up being index on your site.

As it stands, most people think that Classified Ads do not add to the entire pool of search engine marketing strategies. In fact, that’s not true. I’ve found that classified ads will definitely add to your pool of backlinks, and if it is a high-traffic site, will generate traffic for you anyway.

If it has a high Page Rank, that will be even better!

I highly recommend that those who are interested to find another avenue for generating high-quality backlinks to not just look at a classified ad directory and spam the site. I’d recommend that you do your regular on-page optimization elements on your classified ads, and then post only to those directories that have a higher page rank so that it’s a referring authority site.

PageRank Checker – you can determine your pagerank here simply. It predicts future page rank as well. PageRank is the factor that determines how Google will treat you. The higher on a scale of 1-10, the better.

Keyword Density Check – Keyword density will help on-page optimization factors. Search engines look for something around 7% – 14% based on current algorithms.

Keyword Suggestion tool – This is a basic tool that you can use to think about your niche area. It ‘drills down’ nicely! Remember – keywords determine your internet future and the ease at which you do SEO for your sites.
