Your Profiles That Cheat Reduce Credibility

I was intruiged by the fact that there are more and more people getting into MyBlogLog.com. It’s a great site, and the features are great. The foundational principle of people being able to use MyBlogLog.com is that they have to have some kind of trust element. People trust you enough to visit your website. It’s a social site. You have a great time making friends, etc.

Unfortunately, there are three types of characters in this online world that spoil the market badly for you.

Type 1: Fake Profile Master

Misconceptions Of Social Networking

Social networking is a term used for a long time to refer to friend networks like Friendster. The idea is that social activity would drive traffic and then lead to an increase in advertising revenues.

As written at CNet, Molly Wood says that Social Networking is just a passing fad. http://www.cnet.com/4520-6033_1-6240543-1.html

I tend to disagree. The question is… what do you do on the social networking site in the first place. The problem with social networking is that it has really kicked off for social activites and social hobbies, like music, videos, file sharing and a little bit of vouyeurism. The thing is, most social networking sites are flops not because of the concept itself, but because of a lack of a clear strategic purpose.

Social Branding

I’ve written about Poor Man’s Traffic recently, and I thought it would be a good idea to add this in as a supplement. Most people are not aware that Social Branding is a powerful form of marketing. You can, at it’s very basic level, consider it word of mouth marketing, or customer evangelism. Both concepts are very powerful. At the same time, I’m referring not just to people meeting people who ‘happen’ to talk about a particular product or service. I’m saying that it is a deliberate effort. You have a group of people to go out and talk to others about this product or service.
