First, you need to understand why people want to have blogs spammed. Firstly, when blogs have comments, it usually gets people to your site if they are curious about what you wrote. Unfortunately, nowadays, spam is not even intelligble. It contains a host of different kinds of links and usually lots of sexual enhancement pills and the like (yawn).

Second, it is an attempt to get traffic, but it doesn’t really work unless you have genuine blog comments and form a part of the community. Anyhow… here it goes.

Step 1: activate your Akismet plugin in your “plugins” tab:

Step 2: go get your Wordpress.com API. You need to register and click your verification in your email. Once you log into Wordpress.com, you will have to retrieve your API here:

Once this is done, you’re done with catching spam.

I’ll let you know how well this fares, but to deal with the spam issue, let’s all ensure we ourselves don’t do silly things like this to create more problems.

 All things said, it’s been quite a while since I updated my blog, and I thought it would be appropriate, considering that we’re literally relaunching the new Internet Marketing Academy. Is this the truth? Well, I want you to follow the logic here. If you want to learn to use HTML, it will probably set you back anything between 2 weeks (if you’re really that good) to 3 months (that’s what happened for me). Waste of time? You decide!

In the end I opted to use a simple content management system: a blog.

It got my web presence, and it got me going. Most people will use a blogger.com blog. That’s fine. It’s free, and simple to use. But I know that the power of the Wordpress blog is far better, instead of just a static page.

Still, that doesn’t mean that you can avoid doing static pages. Here’s a good tool you can use that is 100% downloadable:

It’s a free HTML editor, for those of you who can’t afford to get MS Frontpage.

You will obviously also need an FTP program.

This is to transfer files from your laptop to your server.

You will definitely need your webhost, which can also install Wordpress instantly.

Finally, you will need to get an autoresponder software.

These are essential tools of the trade and will serve you for a long time to come.

guided tutorial without the exhorbitant cost involved.

In addition, blogging has many
new technologies blossoming around it. For instance, the concept of social
bookmarking (I call it social "bookmarketing") has been responsible for me
generating over 1000 visitors over a 7-day period, utilizing social bookmarking
alone.

Utilizing tagging, you can ‘tag’
a site by adding some tag chicklets or buttons. A visitor who clicks on these
buttons will get your article tagged and bookmarked on sites like Digg and
Technorati. If you are using a Wordpress blog, you can even install plugins that
do this automatically for you.

Those using regular blogs like
blogger.com can use the free service at Feedburner.com and generate a series of
chicklets that will enable visitors to bookmark your site on their personal
account as they see fit. It’s almost like a voting system – except that such
votes actually count powerfully to your search engine rankings.
