I was in the process of investigating affiliate marketing when I realized that many of the internet marketing experts from all over the world are VERY TIGHT with plugging gaps in their sales process.

For example, do you just have “thank you for subscribing”, or do you have an upsell page? Do you have a freebie giveaway? What do you do with that? I’ll bet this simple strategy of plugging gaps in your website structure could easily double your income if you did it right.

In other words, these internet gurus do not leave visitors ANY holes to leave without at least seeing an offer or seeing an upsell. They use so many different opportunities to monetize, I am grimacing at the amount of money I myself am leaving on the table. Sheesh.

Let me go review my own sites as I taste my own medicine…

No frills. That’s what I would say about the Super Affiliate Handbook. After my interview with Rosalind Gardner, I realized a lot of simple ground level basics that we should pay close attention to.

In fact, together with Ewen Chia’s newbie cash machine, I think both have great complements to each other.

Let me explain.

As an affiliate, you really need to have a global view of what is available to you. Rosalind actually gives you a great guide to get an overview of the affiliate marketing landscape from her own experience. With good recommendations of what hot markets to have and what items to look for, you should actually read this and then just start and go do it.

Then, Ewen has a step-by-step affiliate process. It’s easy to follow if you just read it a couple of times. Of course, you have to have a web host and an autoresponder to start. Both will cost you no more than US$20 a month. That’s it! You can get started straight away.

Of course I will be really happy if you get a copy of my book, Secrets of Internet Millionaires, and use the overview of information there to boost your knowledge in the area of affiliate marketing too, particular areas like traffic and product creation. You can grab the physical copy at stores near you. The digital version will be out when it’s ready.

I was intruiged by the fact that there are more and more people getting into MyBlogLog.com. It’s a great site, and the features are great. The foundational principle of people being able to use MyBlogLog.com is that they have to have some kind of trust element. People trust you enough to visit your website. It’s a social site. You have a great time making friends, etc.

Unfortunately, there are three types of characters in this online world that spoil the market badly for you.

Type 1: Fake Profile Master

This person walks around with a fake profile. It’s like a person going into a social setting and telling stories about his past that are completely untrue. They “pose” as people who are great, powerful, or meek and weak, just in order to bait people to make friends with them. This is pretty much like your kindergarten tactic where people think of you as popular simply because you tell them that you are. It’s silly, and often, dangerous. It reduces the credibility of the overall social structure in the blogosphere.

Type 2: Photo Baiter

This person will create a photograph of a pretty looking girl, just to bait people to come to his site. The reason why I say “his” site is because only guys will exploit the use of girls’ photographs just to get traffic. I can’t say whether it’s “ethical” or not, but what I can say is that the level of credibility you have as a user of such a low-balling tactic is… well, low. Can you imagine what it’s like when people date you because he thinks you’re pretty only to discover you’re a MAN?! Gee, guys. What were you thinking?!

Type 3: Profile Advertising Maniac

Okay, this one by far takes the cake. It’s like the profile is a maniacal display of every business opportunity he or she is in, as though there were no tomorrow. It’s hilarious. “Buy this ebook and join that club and wait… purchase this home study course too, PLUS sign in to get a FREE copy of my newsletter!” Won’t they ever learn that marketing is about a focused and concerted effort?

If you own such profiles and feel offended by what I’ve written, lol… you deserve it. Seriously, though – if people keep doing this only, then what’s the point of having a blog and a social community?

Stop Cheating. Be Credible. (Somehow I sound like the Singapore police now… sheesh)

It’s a little too late now that I’ve gotten the hang of the hype in affiliate marketing, and I mean “hang” in several different ways.

You might be new to internet marketing, or you might be reading this precisely because internet marketing is your cup of tea. So, I thought I’d just shamelessly highlight all the strategies that people have used over time to make money online with affiliate marketing.

Method 1 – Direct from Advertising to Affiliate links

You run an advertising campaign and get people to actually click on the ad links to your affiliate link, thereby driving traffic direct to your affiliate landing pages.

Method 2 – Viral ebooks

You write a viral ebook with plenty of affiliate links in them, then unleash them into the marketplace.

Method 3 – Teleseminars

You run a teleseminar, and tell people to go to a website address which you own, that redirects to an affiliate link.

Method 4 – Podcast

You record an MP3 with content, but have ads recommending a specific product during the time of your podcast.

Method 5 – Viral video

Video is uploaded to video sites like YouTube.com and you make people come to your website for more. The website is a redirected domain name to an affiliate link.

Method 6 – Screencam video with redirection

You send out video content using Camtasia Studio, but there is a URL redirect at the end of the video that leads people back to your affiliate landing page.

Method 7 – Domain name redirect

You buy a domain name which is similar to a well-known product being sold, and redirect this to the actual affiliate product landing page. Misspelt words often become profitable instantly.

Method 8 – Website article

You write an article and get people to click on a link in your website.

Method 9 – Email/Ezine to blog article

Similar to #8, except you send emails or an ezine regularly to people, then you drive them to an article you write on a blog.

Method 10 – Resale rights products

You offer resale rights to products that already have your affiliate links in them. While people make money on the front end, you make money on the back end.

Method 11 – 2-Tier Affiliate program

You run your own affiliate program leveraging on the principal product creator’s 2-tier scheme. You then hire more people to sell on your behalf, leading you to focus primarily on training your sub-affiliates.

Method 12 – Classified Ads

The most undermined, but definitely a good working model – place a classified ad and run people to the site you are advertising. Many classified sites are free of charge.

I wrote about routines in my previous post.

Today’s idea is about seeking out incoming links for the purposes of SEO. I think many people who are doing affiliate marketing will miss this out solely because the SEO approach doesn’t always appeal to them, and therefore are happier doing PPC advertising.

While I don’t deny that SEO is tedious and often boring, it doesn’t always have to be that way. There are examples of how SEO can be easy, and link building leveraged.

One way is to hire someone full time to do your SEO. This will include link building, article submissions, link exchange programs and the like.

The other way is to get yourself a web-based software program created or a theme created that you distribute for free with your anchor text (the words that you want to rank highly for) in the the program or theme. If this is useful, many people will actually be interested in it, and use it for their own benefit.

The daily routine here is actually in the first method. You need to find good directories to do submissions, and I talk about how it’s less effective now in SEO in my audio training located here. Still, just because it’s less effective doesn’t mean you can’t still use it. I know I do, but because it’s so tedious, I often find it a chore to actually do it myself.

I would like to suggest that SEO is a daily routine and if you want to do it, you need to take some time to optimize your site consistently. Traffic can then stabilize over a longer period of time.

In 2006, several thousand internet marketers came into the affiliate marketing scene and made a killing. It was hundreds of millions of dollars worth of sales. They sold eBooks, home study courses, coaching programs… everything in the information product world ranging from copywriting to Google Adwords courses, search engine optimization to affiliate marketing and traffic generation strategies (and who can forget list building).

It was a crazy year. A year on, let’s look at the hundreds of millions of dollars spent, in relation to the money made. Was it justifiable? Were there more scams than normal? Were the profits real?

Our intuition points to the fact that much of the money spent was definitely NOT worthwhile. More often than not, email is not checked, there are countless bytes of junked email simply because people who had subscribed or had an interest in internet marketing are now jaded. They have bought before and they will not buy again. They’re not even going to buy the idea that affiliate marketing, the most common and popular approach to making money online, is going to work.

But if each of these people are going to get jaded, where’s the money going to come from? Newbies! Now, tons of people claiming to teach newbies affiliate marketing are gate crashing on the industry, sending internet marketing further into the dismal abyss of scams, unfulfilled promises, and definitely no one is going to be able to make money with affiliate marketing.

Well, not unless they know the right sources, of course.

The most obvious solution is to get training, not a miracle. InternetMarketingSingapore.com was the site I created to spoil the market. It’s been said that some people come over to my site to scrape content in order to sell for profit. Now that’s totally wrong, but there’s little I can do. All I hope is anyone who is learning from my site can benefit and become part of the dream community of people who are working with each other by improving their expertise in marketing.

If you want to make money with affiliate marketing, invest your time wisely in internet marketing. Join interactive discussion on this site, particularly if you are very new. I have a warm community that doesn’t condone blatant advertising, and we work with each other, often on joint ventures.

Don’t just go into the cut-throat internet marketing arena. Focus on the arena that drives money and cash. Look, for instance at sites such as www.JacklynKer.com. She’s selected a personal development niche to explore. Look at www.DorisChua.com She’s selected organic food. How about www.TheJapaneseAreCrazy.com? That’s a comedy site! Whatever the case, you will always be able to generate far more creative ideas if you were to look at where money is. It’s not in the internet marketing area. It’s using internet marketing to make money elsewhere.

If you want new ideas about this, please read more on this site!

I think today I’ll focus more on personal productivity. It’s really the mainstay of any internet marketer’s success, and more importantly, without the right level of productivity, it will lead you to feel that you’re wasting your time.

Take for example, one of my coaching clients who had been changing plans from day one. It was frustrating, but at the same time obviously time-wasting to both of us. I can go on changing plans every time I meet, but that’s not what a business is about.

What is important is for skills to be developed. Another client of mine took on blogging and started off on something fairly decent, no matter how unsavvy this client was on the internet. At least this person will have done something and made time productive.

How much time do you spend on the web? How much time could you save? After exploring what could be done, I reviewed my own workflow and realized that I have enhanced my productivity quite a fair bit.

With our new system, we presently have the capability to generate content at around 80 pages a day in full concentration, and usually 40 pages on average, for every 8 hour time slot. That’s pretty good – we’re talking about an entire eBook a day. I’m looking to knock that down to 40 pages per 3 hours in the following days to come.

If you re-evaluate the way you are doing things, you have to constantly be on the lookout for methods and strategies that could make you better. Unfortunately to some people, it means sliming the people who helped them. I’m glad not to be a part of such an exercise, but I know the world of the internet is filled with the “he did this to me so I won’t work with him anymore” mentality. Granted, there are some people whom I’d prefer working with rather than others, it’s all a matter of practical perspective. At the end, everyone wins out, and that’s most important.

Consider setting up a mastermind group to discuss productivity issues, and improve your workflow and processes.

In light of the article I wrote in Part #2, what was important was the content. But, you also need to consider daily reading as part of your routine.

I know most internet marketers read a lot, but don’t have much skill in terms of gathering bulk content when reading. I also know internet marketers who hate reading. I usually digest reading material very fast, and it’s important to do reading across multiple journals, ezines and articles in order to get an idea.

For instance, I typically read search engine newsletters to understand what’s going on in the market right now. I’d grab myself a cup of coffee, load up my laptop, and start reading. Whatever is interesting, I turn it into a product that can be digested by the audience. If it can’t, then I’ll make mention of it in my newsletter or email blast.

Whatever the case, this daily read can accumulate to several pages of knowledge during the week. So, this is a great way to get information for a monthly or weekly newsletter. Here are some of my resources:

www.ClickZ.com
www.DigitalPoint.com
www.eMarketer.com
Also, Rosalind Gardner’s newsletter is also a pretty good source of information especially for affiliates.

Yeah, yeah. There’s a lot to read up on. If you are going to stop reading, you might as well not start internet marketing.

Oh by the way, if you didn’t know, we’re on a couple of very major projects to bring internet marketing to the next level, and yes – where you can see profits coming in too. I’m quite sure that you’ll be impressed with what is available here. Major launch date (especially if you are already an affiliate marketer) is 7th May. Watch out for this!

In my previous post on daily routines, I talked about one daily routine being niche identification. I know this to be important, because your niche and extending on the keywords within your niche are essential traffic routines for your business.

Some people mistake this to be the be all and end all, which of course, would be stupid to assume. But ignorant marketers will ignore this. A good process or system would be optimization. Building your content, enhancing your site, optimizing for good keywords that bring traffic are all part and parcel of the traffic process. But don’t be mistaken – one doesn’t make money simply identifying keywords even though you need to make sure that the lifeblood – traffic – is flowing. It’s like even though you drink enough water doesn’t mean you won’t get sick.

After you stabilize it, squeeze blood out of the rock to see how much more mileage you can get from that traffic coming in!

Here’s one routine I’d definitely suggest that you do: content creation. The more content you create, the better it will be for you in the long run. After all, most people who are unable to generate good content don’t get return readership.

Content creation has many aspects in it. And daily content creation would mean building an ebook a day. Of course, just like te process of niche research and keyword pruning, anyone silly enough to do this on their own would probably be digging their own grave. This is no misnomer. Fortunately, I do these things on a regular basis in order to spruce up my content in other niches. It’s great to have people coming over and having that wide-eyed look (“how the hell do you build so much content in such a short span of time”).

Don’t just stick to text content. Look at audio content, video content and screen capture content. The bigger the variation, the better. Of course, you will need additional training to get such content off the ground, or else you will need to have a good partner to get such content done for you.

Well, I’ve also created some methodologies to enable content creation in a very rapid way, that turns into maximum value for my business. You need to think of your own method of content creation and how best to make this content bring repeat visitors to your website.

If you have already started out in affiliate marketing, you would have
realized that the straightforward methods of running an affiliate marketing
campaign might not be as simple as you thought. After all, which are doing is
repeating the strategy that some of the guru has offered to you.

Most of you would have attempted to use something called the Google Cash method.
In this method, the online marketing strategy that is involved requires you to
advertise on Google Adwords in order to send traffic direct to your affiliate
link. However, this method has been obsolete ever since Google Adwords prevented
more than one affiliate link to appear on their sponsored links sidebars. Some
innovative it affiliate marketers have actually create a new strategies to still
use Google Adwords without having to pay for higher bids. [as of today, there is
a new version of the Google Cash approach that still works. To find out more
from a third party source,
click here - the original Google Cash Detective is not available to the
public]

Recently, something called “Day Job Killer” sprung into the affiliate marketing
scene and began to give affiliate marketers some new hope of being able to earn
their income using very simple methods on Google Adwords and more.

However, in my opinion as long as there are thousands and thousands of people
using the strategies, you will end up losing out because unless you started
implementing them immediately after you use these books, you wouldn’t be able to
profit.

So, what is a new Internet marketing strategy that can hit the ball out of the
park? For most people, online marketing strategies that affiliates use are
simply copied of other successful campaigns. While this has a gem of wisdom, it
is obviously flawed –anyone who copies successful campaigns will always be a
follower, not the leader.

Sure, after copying a campaign, you might be able to make quite a few sales. But
what happened to you be able to innovate new Internet marketing strategies? I
think the weakness in many people is that they are unable to innovate new online
marketing systems and strategies that work well for them. So in order to be
better at affiliate marketing, you need to begin to seek out strategies that are
far more creative.

The elements of creativity come from studying other peoples’ affiliate marketing
strategies. Take the best of breed practices and then combine them in order to
come out with something more effective. Take a look for instance, at the idea of
a viral ebook. Instead of letting people pass around the book, now Internet
marketers are paying other people to pass the ebook around. Seek to dominate a
strategy in the affiliate marketing space with a new strategy after innovating.
